As Alpha Omega’s client base and community needs began to grow, processes that relied on increasingly outdated technology began to fail.

Executive Director Bridget Varnedoe knew it was time to expand their operations, but realized they needed a better system for managing resident data in order to do so. Philadelphia Community Youth Court was founded in July 2012 with the mission to help eradicate the school-to-prison pipeline. The organization provides training for the development of school-based and community-based youth courts, which are programs where youth sanction their peers for minor delinquent and school discipline policy offenses and other problem behaviors. Youth offenders agree to participate in a hearing utilizing the principles of restorative justice and agree to complete restorative sanctions offered by a jury of youth peers. Peers also serve as bailiffs, judges, and advocates.
